P0720 OBDII

LOW OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR RPM ABOVE 15mph. Condition that triggers the code is vehicle speed above 15mph and the Output Shaft Speed Sensor is below 60rpm for 2.6 secs.

Possible cause could be dead or dying sensor, cable loose or a short to ground or to (+) voltage.

** Ignition OFF ***

Ok to test the sensor:

1. Disconnect the Output Speed Sensor (OSS) harness connector
2. Measure the resistance between the two terminals of the OSS
<?> Is the resistance between 300 and 1200 ohms? If No, replace the OSS.

If OSS is ok, then:

*** Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) C2 harness connector ***
*** Disconnect Output Speed Sensor OSS harness connector ***

1. Check the OSS harness connector for (+) voltage on both wires. If you get more then 0.5volts, you got a short to voltage on that wire.

2. Check the OSS harness connector for ground short on both wires by checking resistance between ground and each wire. If the resisstance below 5.0 ohms, you got a short to ground on that wire.

If you still can't find the problem, then you most likely have a break somewhere in the harness from PCM to OSS. If you need to know what wires on PCM connector coming from OSS, let me know.
